Recount Features

Malo Room 19,

This term we have been doing recount writing. A recount gives your experience of a past event in the order it happened.


You're task is to create the success criteria for a great recount. What are the main features? Bullet points with a brief explanation for each one. For example:

  • Chronological Order
This means your recount must be arranged in time order. So start with what happened first and work your way through the events until you finish with the last thing.

Remember, the usual blog rules apply.

    .Punctuation - A punctuation is there to make sentences easy to read and easy to write for the author.

    .Time connectives - Time connectives are there so you can use it while you tell them when something happens.
    .Chronological order - Chronological order is there so you set your events in order.

    Put the events in order so it will make sense and the reader will understand.

    Use adjectives, similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, adverbs and synonyms to make your writing more interesting.

    -Hook
    Create a interesting introduction so the audience will get your attention.

    -Detail
    Use detail so the reader can make a better image in their head.

    -Conclusion
    Rap the recount up with a pleasant ending.

  4. Hi our names are Angela and Makere and we are going to show you the steps on how to write a recount.

    The first step is to create a success criteria.
    The next step is to introduce the recount and what you are writing about.
    After that you start writing your first paragraph.
    Next you start writing your second paragraph.
    When you write a recount you will have to have at least 3-4 paragraph and a conclusion.

    When you write a paragraph you have to make sure that you have a lot of descriptive words vocabulary past tense and have to make sure your paragraphs are in chronological order.

    -remember to always to write in past tense
    - It has to have capitals letters in a begining of a sentene
    - You have to have paragrahs so you can group your ideas bit by bit
    -We need to have a hook so you an capture your reads attention
    -You really need to put your writing in chronologial order
    -But you have to put full stops so the reader can stop and take a breather
